Massage Therapy at Pilates Plus of Schaumburg
Meet our massage therapist, Renata Gnatek!
Being a massage therapist gives me a chance to help people relax, maintain and focus on their own body and also feelings. For me connection between body, mind and spirit is the most important thing to healthy and happy you. Massage as we all know is not just to be pampered, but to stay in balance, good health and to bring the flow of positive uplifted energy in to you.
I became Reiki Master one year after I graduated from massage school almost 5 years ago, and this was the missing piece to make my work complete. I cannot tell you how happy it makes me to see a difference in my clients. And all the feedbacks from them are just insuring me that thru my massage they can feel more connected to their body. This is what makes my life good and my days happy when I know I am making a positive change in somebodyÕs life.
Every year I am taking Continued Education classes not because I have to, but because they always help me find more tools and better ways to improve work for my entire clientele. For me not a single massage is the same and I truly believe that every single person coming for a massage needs different approach. I am there to adjust my work torts you and your needs.
Touch has its very own unique power, power to relax, nurture, and power to heal. My goal is to make the best of each visit and I deeply value every single minute spend with my clients. Stress Relief That Lasts!
Experts estimate that as much as 90% of all disease is stress related. And perhaps nothing ages us faster, internally or externally, than high stress levels. Eliminating anxiety and pressure from a fast-paced world may be unrealistic, but massage and bodywork is a great way to manage any stress we do experience. The emotional balance that massage and bodywork provide can often be just as important as the more tangible physical benefits. Massage and bodywork is a wonderful way to make sure you’re getting enough nurturing touch in your life…and it just feels good!
Specialized Massages
Hot / Cold Stone Massage – heated stones are used to create a massage that makes you feel pampered. The heat from the stones relaxes the muscles and allows the therapist to work deeply, yet gently. Cold stones are often used on the face at the end of the massage to bring balance to the session. Hot stones can be integrated into a 60 or 90 minute massage.
Prenatal Massage – this massage is given in a side-lying position using pillows for support and comfort. Prenatal massage helps to relieve low back pain, sciatica, fatigue and swelling of the hands and feet. Done only after the first trimester of pregnancy, it is a wonderful way to connect with both your changing body and your baby.
Geriatric Massage – as seniors age, isolation is often the most difficult challenge they have to overcome, even more so than physical limitations. Seniors, more than any other age group, experience a lack of nurturing touch in their lives. Massage is a great way for them to connect with another person and to receive the gift of being touched with love and respect. Age-related medical conditions are taken into consideration when planning a session with a senior, and great care is taken not to overburden their system. Geriatric massage is generally a very gentle massage that lasts no longer than one hour. Please consider bringing a loved one with you to Pilates Plus of Schaumburg to experience a geriatric massage while you enjoy one of the many classes offered.
Alternative Therapies
Positional Release – A form of bodywork that is done with the client fully clothed. It uses gentle movement and body positions to change the stress and pain patterns throughout the body. This non-invasive therapy is very effective in reducing chronic muscle tension, soothing joints, improving circulation, increasing flexibility and relaxing the entire body. Positional release is often one of the bodywork styles used during an integrated massage.
Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) – is completely different than massage or bodywork and is done with the client fully clothed. The client taps on well established energy meridian points while consciously focusing on a specific issue. EFT has been very successful with resolving pain, emotional traumas, phobias, cravings and many other issues and clients usually notice a change quickly. The EFT motto is “try it on everything.”
Reflexology- Reflexology is a unique method of using thumb and fingers to stimulate nerve endings in feet, hands and ears. The nerve endings correspond to all parts of the body, including organs and glands. Stimulating the appropriate region is intended to eliminate energy blockages from related areas. Reflexology can relieve stress and tension within a whole body. It improves circulation and lymphatic flow, helps restore balance and promotes relaxation and healing.
Can be done in 30 or 60 minutes session.
Reiki- Reiki involves the transfer of energy from practitioner to patient and claims to enhance the body's natural ability to heal itself through the balancing of energy. Reiki utilizes specific techniques for restoring and balancing the natural life force energy within the body. It is a holistic, natural, hands-on energy healing system that touches on all levels: body, mind, and spirit. Reiki is a Japanese healing art that is gaining worldwide popularity. What makes Reiki unique is that it incorporates elements of just about every other alternative healing practice, such as spiritual healing, auras, crystals, chakra balancing, meditation, aromatherapy, naturopathy, and homeopathy. Reiki is accepted by hospitals and clinics as a meaningful way to improve patients healing. This is a multidimensional process. Benefits include decreased anxiety, decreased pain, and improved sense of well-being. Relaxation, pain relief, stress management, anxiety, surgery recovery, chemotherapy treatments, depression, arthritis and much more.
Can be done in 60 minutes treatment / fully clothed - Or as a Reiki Massage in 90 minutes session.
Deep Tissue Massage- When there is chronic muscle tension or injury, there are usually adhesions (bands of painful, rigid tissue, knots) in muscles, tendons, and ligaments. Adhesions can block circulation and cause pain, limited movement, and inflammation. Deep tissue massage works by physically breaking down these adhesions to relieve pain and restore normal movement. To do this, the massage therapist often uses direct deep pressure or friction applied across the grain of the muscles.
Can be done in 60 or 90 minutes Deep tissue Massage.
