DANCE & MOVEMENT
There are many movements that utilize the pole as a prop. This side of pole dancing focuses on the quality of the movement, dance techniques, overcoming self-consciousness. These movements are more accessible to all levels of fitness and do not require previous experience to try. In fact, a chair or wall can be substituted for a pole with these basic & fun movements that are great for cardiovascular health.
STRENGTH & ACROBATICS
Acrobatic tricks like spins, turns, and inverted positions, utilize upper body & core strength to move the participant off the ground and onto (and around) the pole. Sits, holds, & climbs engage the lower body & core. The acrobatic aspects of pole dancing vary in their level of difficulty, but some background knowledge or the guidance of a qualified instructor is important for safety. These movements require the use of a pole.
